MayRivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP), the state health insurance agency, is set up to provide quality and affordable healthcare services to all residents of the state, no matter what part of the state they reside, and where they hail from.
The Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of RIVCHPP, Dr. Vetty Agala, who made the assertion in her speech to flag off a 28-day medical outreach in Port Harcourt, called on those who are already aware of the laudable programme to help disseminate the information to others.
Dr. Agala described the health insurance programme as a good one that will help those who are already enrolled never to suffer catastrophic financial hardship when they have health challenges , calling upon well-to- do individuals and organisations to pay for the enrolment of some members of their communities as to extend the benefits of the programme to more and more persons.
The Executive Secretary of RIVCHPP, who commended the efforts of Rivers State Government under the leadership of Sir Siminialayi Fubara, in seeing to it that Rivers residents always have unfettered access to quality healthcare services, said that government cannot do it alone, hence the continuual call for support and partnership from organisations and individuals.
Dr. Agala, then commended the leadership of God is God Missionary Foundation for their consistency, appreciating them for the partnership, which she described as a veritable vehicle to reach many more Rivers residents.
In his remarks, the founder of God is God Missionary Foundation, and Medical Director of Balm Medical Centre, Dr Barilo Paul, thanked RIVCHPP for the partnership, which he described as a sign for better days in his organisation's history of health outreaches.
According to Dr. Paul, God is God Missionary Foundation has been persistent in its health outreach programmes since they started it in 1993, commending the state government for picking up the health expenses, even free surgeries, for Rivers residents through the functionality of RIVCHPP.
Dr. Paul announced that 20 surgery cases had already been attended to since the outreach started a few days back, assuring that by the end of the outreach, 200 surgeries would have been carried out, while not less than 1000 patients with varying health needs will be attended to.
It would be recalled that the 28-day medical outreach, which is sponsored by God is God Missionary Foundation in partnership with RIVCHPP, Nun Shemeck Health Life Foundation, Scitylena, and Aikebulan Foundation, which featured, among others, the enrolment of persons into RIVCHPP's programmes, and capturing for NIN.
