RIVCHPP IS FAST BECOMING THE MOST IMPROVED SSHIA.. .......REVIEWED AGE OF DEPENDANT CHILDREN

Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP) is fast becoming the most improved social health insurance agency  in terms of universal health coverage (UHC) in the country.

The Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of RIVCHPP, Dr.  Vetty Agala made the declaration on Monday,  29th June,  2021, as she led a team from the state social health insurance agency to Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic,  Rumuola, on an advocacy visit.

Dr. Agala announced that having people  trust the agency,  as a government establishment,  was the greatest challenge the agency had at inception, but  there is now ample evidence of the people 's trust and belief in RIVCHPP. 
The  Executive   has registered over 150,000 enrollees currently accessing care across the 23 local government areas of the state.

The Executive Secretary of RIVCHPP also said that the agency became functional in 2024, though the law for its establishment was signed in 2021, basically to see to it that all residents of the state have access to healthcare of good quality,  at all times,  without becoming poorer for paying out of pocket.

Dr. Agala said that enrolling all residents of the state into RIVCHPP's programmes resonates with the Governor's mandate of Rivers first and #Health4AllRivers mantra, urging management of the Polytechnic to enrol staff and students into the programme.

The Chief Executive Officer of RIVCHPP announced that the formal sector package of the agency which covers a worker, a spouse, and 4 children, saying the age of the benefiting children has been reviewed from 18 years - 21 years ofage.

In his response,  the Rector of the Polytechnic,  Dr
Moses . S. Neebee, represented by the Deputy Rector, Dr.  Aloni Clinton said that the institution is open to initiatives geared towards giving its staff and students good healthcare,   promising that management of the Polytechnic would consider the proposal by RIVCHPP.

Dr. Neebee also congratulated RIVCHPP for its efforts in bringing quality healthcare services to the doorsteps of all Rivers residents,  appreciating the pragmatic  leadership of the Executive Secretary of RIVCHPP,  Dr Vetty Agala, on the innovative policies and approaches of the health insurance agency.

The advocacy visit,  which also had representatives of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics(ASUP), Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics (SSANIP), and Non  Academic Staff Union (NASU),among other groups,  featured the presentation of RIVCHPP kits and materials by the Executive Secretary to the school.
