Upholding the vision of "Health for All Rivers" residents, the Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP), in collaboration with the Rivers State Primary Healthcare Management Board, conducted a comprehensive training program on the implementation of the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund. This one-day training initiative targeted key stakeholders, including Primary Healthcare Management Staff, heads of Departments, units and programs, as well as the Medical Officers of Health (MOHs), equipping them with the fundamental knowledge and guidelines necessary for the successful roll-out of the health insurance scheme.
Dr. Vetty Agala, the Executive Secretary of RIVCHPP, spearheaded the training sessions, emphasizing the strategic significance of educating participants on the health insurance gateway of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund. Her presentation underscored the pivotal role of the people in ensuring the program's success and the commitment to treating them with utmost care and consideration, as mandated by His Excellency, The Executive Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS.
Dr. Agala further accentuated the urgent need to significantly reduce out-of-pocket expenses for healthcare services, thereby safeguarding the people of Rivers State from financial hardship and enabling them to access quality healthcare without the burden of catastrophic spending.
Reinforcing the collective effort, Prof. Green Kinikanwo, the Executive Secretary of the Rivers State Primary Healthcare Management Board, urged participants to actively support RIVCHPP's endeavors toward achieving universal health coverage in the state.
This training initiative underscores the unwavering dedication of the Rivers State government to ensuring accessible and affordable healthcare for all residents, fostering a healthier and more prosperous society.
