VISIT TO THE CIVIL SERVANT CLINIC

RIVCHPP'S EXECUTIVE SECRETARY TOURS CIVIL SERVANT CLINICS AHEAD OF ENROLMENT OF FORMAL SECTOR INTO HEALTH INSURANCE SCHEME

... Assessing Readiness to Deliver Quality Healthcare to Civil Servants in Rivers State

Following the recent courtesy and advocacy visit to the Head of Rivers State Civil Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, the Acting Executive Secretary of Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP), Dr. Vetty Rolegherighan Agala, embarked on a tour of Civil Servant Clinics in Port Harcourt. This tour was part of RIVCHPP's strategic efforts to ensure the readiness of healthcare facilities ahead of the enrolment of civil servants into the state's health insurance scheme.

The tour was prompted by discussions during the courtesy visit, where Dr. Nwaeke highlighted the interest of civil servants from the formal sector in utilizing these clinics to access healthcare services upon enrolment. Determined to ensure that the facilities meet the required standards for quality healthcare delivery, Dr. Agala engaged directly with key stakeholders within the clinics.

During the tour, Dr. Agala met with the Medical Director, Her Excellency, Dr. Mina Tele Ikuru who is overseeing the Civil Servant Clinics. Their discussions centered on the current state of the facilities, the availability and functionality of medical equipment, staffing capacity, and the overall preparedness of the clinics to provide healthcare services under the RIVCHPP scheme.

Dr. Agala emphasized the importance of equipping these clinics to deliver accessible, efficient, and high-quality healthcare to civil servants. "Our goal is to ensure that no one in Rivers State is denied access to quality healthcare due to financial constraints. This begins with having well-prepared facilities that can meet the healthcare needs of our enrollees," she stated.

The Acting Executive Secretary also conducted on-site assessments, inspecting critical areas of the clinics, including consultation rooms, laboratories, pharmacies, and creche. She took note of the infrastructure, identified areas needing upgrades, and discussed possible interventions to enhance service delivery.

Dr. Agala commended the Medical Director for her coordination of the staff and their dedication. She encouraged them to maintain high standards of professionalism and patient care. She reiterated RIVCHPP's commitment to continuous support and collaboration with healthcare providers to achieve the state's Universal Health Coverage (UHC) goals.

This tour marks a significant step in RIVCHPP's mission to expand healthcare access across Rivers State. It reflects the agency's proactive approach in ensuring that facilities are not just available but are fully equipped to deliver quality healthcare services to civil servants and other residents enrolled in the health insurance scheme.
