Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP) has organised a 3-day residential training programme for its team members recently on the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) and improving the work culture of the agency as it is about clocking one year since it became functional as a health insurance agency.
The 3-day residential training programme which has as its theme " Capacity Building on Digitalisation of BHCPF Standards & Quality Assurance, Monitoring & Evaluation and Organisational Culture " held from Wednesday, 5th - Friday, 7th March, 2025, at Franklin Hotel, GRA Phase 3, Port Harcourt.
Declaring open the training programme, the Ag. Executive Secretary of RIVCHPP, Dr Vetty Agala, emphasised the need for the team members to give proper attention to the training programme, which she described as very critical, and that it is going to serve as a training, and a retraining, opportunity for the different team members in the avowed stance of the agency's desire to go digital fully in its operations.
Dr. Agala, who congratulated the team for working assiduosly to have enrolled over 85,000 lives in less than a year of becoming functional, and being the last state in the federation to begin the BHCPF and state health insurance scheme , reiterated that aside enrolment, the training programme is geared at equipping the team members in ensuring that the enrolled persons always access quality health care services at designated health facilities without any hindrances.
RIVCHPP's Ag. Executive Secretary also informed that the essence of the training was to hone the reporting skills of the team, saying that anything not reported is not done.
Dr. Agala emphasised that reporting is crucial and strategic for the agency, and that was why the M& E component, prioritising of digitalisation, and rebuilding of organisational culture to bring about a well behaved workforce and better relationship management were parts of the training.
The RIVCHPP's Executive Secretary used the medium to once more appreciate the agency's gratitude to the Governor of the state, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, GSSRS, and the Commissioner for Health, Dr Adaeze Chidinma Oreh, for unflinching support and leadership provided for RIVCHPP.
The training included presentations by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Bonitas, Demonstration of RIVCHPP ICT tools for M&E, Hands-on Session: Service Utilization Data Entry using RIVCHPP App , presentations by 10XBeta consulting etc.
