NovemberRivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme [RIVCHPP] has continued to seek more collaborations to engender wider health coverage for the people of the state.
One of such collaborative moves saw the Acting Executive Secretary of Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme [RIVCHPP], Dr. Vetty Agala and her team on an advocacy visit to the State Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Hon. Prince Charles Beke, in his office in Port Harcourt.
During the visit, Dr. Agala said that the agency is requesting the Ministry to liaise with the chairmen of the 23 Local Government Areas of the State to facilitate enrolment of the gaps in BHCPF targets, the enrolment of staff in their various Local Government Areas under the formal sector package of the agency, and taking up more lives in their communities under the informal sector package so as to enjoy what the agency christened "the simjara package "where enrollees pay a paltry sum of N15,000 that will give them access to different types of quality health care for one full calendar year.
The RIVCHPP Executive Secretary also used the medium to solicit the support of chairmen of the 23 Local Government Areas to take up at least 2000 lives of their people under the health insurance scheme, saying that such a move would improve better health seeking behaviour and utilisation of health facilities among community members.
Speaking, the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Hon. Prince Charles Beke, who commended the agency in the way it is carrying out its statutory responsibilities, pledged to support the process of ensuring that council chairmen comply with the requests of the agency.
The Local Government Affairs Commissioner also reiterated that his ministry would create avenues and opportunities for officials of RIVCHPP to interface with and sensitise the chairmen to share the laudable programmes nitty-gritty with them.
In another development, the management of Clinton Health Access Initiative [CHAI] has pledged its readiness and willingness to collaborate with Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme [RIVCHPP] in achieving its set goals.
CHAI team, led by Abubakar Yerima, Senior Programme Manager, made the pledge when it visited the Acting Executive Secretary of RIVCHPP, Dr Vetty Agala in her office in Port Harcourt.
The CHAI team also promised to give technical to RIVCHPP to RIVCHPP towards achieving its goals, even as they would showcase the impressive achievements of RIVCHPP in nearly one year of its existence.
